Bottled History: Harveys Cognac Auction Featuring 1943 and 1950 Vintages

Harveys

Spotlight on... the two Harveys Cognac bottlings in our running Auction.

Isn't it incredible that the guys at Harveys wrote so much information on their simple yet elegant labels back in the days when those beauties where bottled?
In our Opinion its definitely kind of being ahead of their time. Founded in 1796 by William Perry in an old House on Bristols historic Denmark Street the company business was importing wines in Casks. In the late 1800s they created that famous cream sherry - Harveys Bristol Cream - wich ist still well known in todays world. They also were granted with the Royal Warrant back in 1895.

Coming back to the two bottles in our auction.

There we have the Grande Champagne Cognac Vintage 1943 from Maison Frapin. Distilled in 1943 and landed in 1963 the cask was bottled with 70 Proof in 1974 by John Harvey & Sons. Even with a slightly damaged front label - this is truly a unique piece of Cognac history.

The second one is a Petite Champagne Cognac from an unknown Producer. It was Distilled in 1950 and landed in 1964 before being bottled also with 70 Proof in 1972. The condition of this second bottle is even better and for us one of the most interesting bottles in our current auction.
